ATP reveals drastic changes to 2025 Tour schedule

The ATP has unveiled the 2025 Tour calendar, which includes significant changes and ‘enhancements’ of top-tier events in the upcoming season.

The most notable tweak is the expansion of two Masters 1000 tournaments, in Canada and Cincinnati, to 12-day events.

After Rome, Madrid and Shanghai were expanded last year, seven of the nine prestigious Masters events will now be aligned with this format, leaving Monte Carlo and Paris-Bercy as the only single week Masters events in 2025.

The calendar also includes the upgrade of three 250 tournaments, in Dallas, Doha and Munich, which has increased the number of ATP 500 events to 16 over the year.

All in all, the ATP has confirmed a total of 60 tournaments across 29 countries.

“Next season will see yet more enhancements to the ATP Tour’s premium product across a streamlined calendar,” ATP chairman Andrea Gaudenzi said in a statement.

“This is central to everything we’ve been building under OneVision, which ultimately aims to create the best possible experience for our fans.

“Last season we broke new ground, welcoming a record five million fans on site across our events. This is just one indication of how positively the sport is trending, and we believe there’s incredible potential to still be unlocked.”

Other changes to the 2025 ATP Tour

Another slight change to next year’s ATP Tour is the rescheduling of the Hamburg Open (500), which has been moved from July to May, scheduled for the week prior to the French Open.

The relocation has already sparked mixed opinions from fans across the tennis world, with some claiming that the move to a week before a grand slam is ‘strange’, while others are excited about the prospect of putting the tournament in the spotlight.

But an omission of a Masters event on grass from the calendar for another year is something that many hope to see changed in future calendars.

The locations of the season-ending finales remain unchanged. The ATP Finals will take place in Turin for the fifth year and Jeddah will host the Next-Gen Finals for the third time.

Due to calendar adjustments, the 250 event in Estoril, operating under an ATP licence since 2015 despite lacking ATP membership, is currently absent from the 2025 schedule.

However, the ATP has maintained that it is attempting to find solutions for the event to take place next year, and beyond.
