Serena Williams recently returned to tennis, playing doubles at Queen’s.
There, she won her opening match alongside Victoria Mboko, but they withdrew from the tournament when the Canadian suffered an injury.
How impressed were you with Serena Williams’ level?
A legendary return!
This week, Williams will play with Karolina Muchova at the Berlin Open WTA 500 event.
Many fans expect Williams to return to singles action before too long, but how competitive would she be?
Andy Roddick believes Serena Williams can still win singles matches in 2026
During the latest episode of ‘Served with Andy Roddick‘, the 2003 US Open champion delivered his latest verdict on Williams’ comeback.
“We still don’t know what the side-to-side movement looks like getting out of the corners. I don’t think that is something that gets better five years on,” said Roddick.

“But I think she could go out and win singles matches.
“I think she is going to hold serve a lot of the time. I think she is going to break serve a lot of the time.”
Roddick wants to see Williams back on the singles court, much like the rest of us.
“I don’t think that is what interests Serena Williams. I don’t think coming back and beating [Corentin] Moutet [like Nick Kyrgios] is something that interests Serena Williams,” he said.
“You watch her play that match, you see 120mph on the radar gun, you see her playing great and rolling through the number three seeds. You left that match going, I want to see the singles.
“Not that this is a fun story. I am kind of dicey about the singles, and I don’t know. You went; that box is checked. Let’s get to the singles.

“The feel of playing a match with a crowd matters. That has value. But what I want to know is how many singles practice sets was she playing at Queen’s and how many singles practice sets she is playing in Berlin on off days.
“I don’t think she is practicing doubles on off days.
“I want to know who she is playing in practice singles in Berlin. If she is playing practice sets in Berlin in singles, that’s a big tell.”
Williams won’t play the singles event in Berlin, although she could make her return at Wimbledon.
However, Williams wasn’t given a Wimbledon singles wild card in the first batch announced on Tuesday morning.
Luckily for Williams, there is one wild card remaining, which would likely be hers if she wants it.
Women’s singles wild cards
- Maja Chwalinska (Poland)
- Harriet Dart (Great Britain)
- Alicia Dudeney (Great Britain)
- Hannah Klugman (Great Britain)
- Katie Swan (Great Britain)
- Mimi Xu (Great Britain)
- TBD
It remains to be seen if Williams will play singles at Wimbledon, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on over the next couple of days.
