After Queen’s, Serena Williams will travel to Berlin to play another grass-court doubles event.
Playing her first match in 1,375 days, Williams won her doubles opener at Queen’s alongside Victoria Mboko.
How impressed were you with Serena Williams’ level?
A legendary return!
She already has her sights set on Berlin, though, and has now ‘selected’ her partner for the event.
Serena Williams will play doubles with Karolina Muchova at the Berlin Open
As reported by ‘The Times‘, Williams will play doubles with Karolina Muchova in Berlin.

Muchova is a former Grand Slam finalist, reaching the French Open final in 2023.
Karolina Muchova’s Grand Slam record (singles)
| Grand Slam | Best performance | Latest performance | Win/Loss record | Win % |
| Australian Open | SF – 2021 | 4R – 2026 | 11-6 | 65% |
| French Open | F – 2023 | 3R – 2026 | 13-7 | 65% |
| Wimbledon | QF – 2019, 2021 | 1R – 2025 | 8-6 | 57% |
| US Open | SF – 2023, 2024 | QF – 2025 | 21-8 | 72% |
She’s less accomplished in doubles, however, and hasn’t played since the Brisbane International in January, where she reached the quarter-finals with Priscilla Hon.
Williams clearly thinks Muchova will be a good partner, although the Czech may not have been her first choice.

Earlier this week, Jon Wertheim claimed Serena Williams was lobbying to play doubles with Coco Gauff in Berlin.
“I hear she would like to play with Coco [Gauff] in Berlin!” he said.
He did, however, admit that Gauff was focused on winning Wimbledon, which may have stopped them from teaming up.
If Gauff declined Williams‘ offer, Muchova may have been the next best option.
And as ‘back-ups’ go, you can’t do much better than Muchova!
Interestingly, Muchova and Williams have met before, in singles, at the 2019 US Open.
Seven years ago, Williams defeated Muchova in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the fourth round.

Now competing together, who knows what they can achieve in Germany?
When did Serena Williams last win a doubles title?
Winning her opening match at Queen’s, Williams proved she still has what it takes to compete, at least in doubles.
If she continues picking the right partners, there is no reason why the 23-time Grand Slam champion can’t challenge for a doubles title later this year.
She may even do so at Queen’s with Mboko, although winning another three matches won’t be easy.
Williams last won a doubles title way back in 2016, alongside her sister, Venus Williams.

The Williams sisters won their 14th Grand Slam title together at Wimbledon a decade ago.
Many fans expect Williams to return to Wimbledon this year to play doubles, and what a story it would be if she could lift the trophy once more.
The future is bright for Williams and it’s exciting for fans of the sport, but what’s next?
Before travelling to Wimbledon or even Berlin, the 44-year-old has work to do at Queen’s.
Williams and Mboko will play Laura Siegemund and Leylah Fernandez in the quarter-finals of the Queen’s doubles event on Thursday, June 11, provided weather delays don’t push the match back.
