Andreev was joined in the last eight by fifth-seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy, whose own impressive recent form continued as he edged another Russian, Mikhail Youzhny, 6-3 5-7 6-3.

Romanian Victor Crivoi reached the first ATP World Tour quarter-finals of his career with a 6-4 6-4 win over Teimuraz Gabashvili. He will next face Andreas Beck, who defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 7-6 (7/3) 1-6 7-6 (7/3).
