Andre Agassi believes there is only one player from his generation who could have challenged Jannik Sinner.
Sinner beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon final for a second consecutive year.
The world number one is now just one win away from defending his title, with Sinner facing Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final this year.
Sinner would claim a fifth Grand Slam title if he is to beat Zverev, and former world number one Agassi believes there is just one player from his generation who could have competed against the Italian.

Andre Agassi suggests Marat Safin could have competed against Jannik Sinner
Agassi was commentating on Sinner’s semi-final victory over Djokovic live on the BBC, where he was full of praise for the current world number one.
The eight-time Grand Slam champion then proceeded to claim that there was only one player from his generation that could have competed against Sinner.
Who will win the Wimbledon final? Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev
The top two seeds collide!
Agassi did not name himself and instead suggested two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin.
“There is one guy from my generation and one guy only. I would say that is Marat Safin,” stated Agassi.
“This dude could serve from the trees, turn it both ways, he was 6ft 5, moved really well. You need all those skills to compete at this level. It’s thin margins out there.”
Agassi faced Safin six times in his career, with the pair winning three matches apiece in their head-to-head.
What Marat Safin said he would do against the current generation
Nearly 17 years from his playing career coming to an end, Safin is now coaching Andrey Rublev and has been since April 2025.
The pair appear to have a lot of humour within their relationship, and this was evident at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) event in Nimes, France last year.
What would have happened if Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played at the same time as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal?
At this event, Gael Monfils asked Safin what he would do against the current generation of players.
Safin responded by joking that his tactics would begin before the match had even begun.
“I would win matches before they started,” Safin answered. “Start to insult somebody.”
Rublev added, “They would disqualify him for sure.”
