Romania’s Victor Crivoi converted four of 11 break points on his way to a 6-3 6-3 win over Jan Hernych of the Czech Republic.

Germany’s Daniel Brands defeated American Robert Kendrick 7-6 (7/5) 7-5, but there was an American winner today as qualifier Wayne Odesnik claimed a 6-2 5-7 7-6 (8/6) success over Czech player Lukas Rosol.

Portugal’s Frederico Gil saw off home favourite Stefan Koubek 4-6 6-4 4-3.
