Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud have differing predictions about the future of men’s tennis.
Zverev is currently the world number three, and will be the second seed at Roland Garros after Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal.
This is where he will look to win an elusive Grand Slam title, with Zverev considered one of the best players yet to win a major.
Although this year’s Roland Garros is seen as one of Zverev’s best remaining chances to win a Grand Slam title, he believes he will still be competing at the top of men’s tennis for years to come, but Ruud does not appear to be so sure.

Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud predict the top five in 2030
Zverev first broke into the top five of the ATP rankings in 2017, and while he has not remained in there for the whole time since then, he has been one of the most consistent players at the top of men’s tennis within this period.
The 29-year-old believes it will remain this way, with Zverev backing himself to be in the top five in 2030, when he will be 33, after being asked to predict this by Eurosport France.
Alongside Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, Zverev also backed Lorenzo Musetti and teenager Joao Fonseca to be in the top five.
“Carlos, Jannik, me, not by any order in particular, but I think us three will be top five still,” said Zverev. “…I’ll go Musetti and maybe Fonseca, why not?”
Do you really believe that Alexander Zverev can win a Grand Slam title?
While Zverev backed himself, Ruud did not mention the German when predicting his own top five, which included Arthur Fils and Jakub Mensik.
Ruud answered, “I’m going to Alcaraz, Sinner, Fils, Fonseca and I’m going to go also with Mensik.”
Current world number five Felix Auger-Aliassime also did not have Zverev in his top five, but he did reveal his hope for himself to be at the top of the ATP rankings.
“I hope to already be in the top five. Maybe even number one, why not? At 30 years old, that would be great,” said Auger-Aliassime.
“Alcaraz and Sinner will always be there. I’d put…maybe Arthur Fils too, and I’ll go [Ben] Shelton.”

What did Daniil Medvedev predict the top five would be in 2026?
Daniil Medvedev fell to his lowest ranking in six years last year, but he has enjoyed a resurgent 2026 season so far and is closing in on a return to the top five.
Despite being 30 years old, Medvedev backed himself to be inside the top five of the ATP rankings in four years time, alongside Alcaraz, Sinner and Zverev.
Medvedev then debated over Novak Djokovic, before picking American Learner Tien instead.
“I’ll be 34, why not put myself in the top 5? Zverev, always there. Alcaraz, Sinner, always there,” said Medvedev.
“There’s still room for one more, and just for fun, I’ll say Novak, but well, I don’t think so. Okay, let’s choose another one… Just for fun, I’ll put my friend Learner Tien.”
