Alexander Bublik’s season came to an unfortunate end at the hands of World No. 222 Vitaliy Sachko in Metz.
His form at the latter end of the season had been impressive and it gave him a warranted shot at ATP Finals qualification.
The star picked up wins against Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, and Francisco Cerundolo since losing to Jannik Sinner at the US Open.
While Bublik’s record against the top players is impressive, he’s shown an increasing weakness against players ranked outside the top 200.

Alexander Bublik’s strange record since the US Open
Bublik has won 14 matches since the US Open, but he’s exhibited a shortfall against lower-ranked players on the ATP Tour.
Bublik’s loss to Vitaliy Sachko was his third loss in two months against players ranked outside the top 200 of the rankings.
The star lost to Valentin Vacherot during his dream run to the Shanghai Masters title while he was ranked World No. 202.
Bublik also tasted a bizarre Davis Cup defeat to Soonwoo Kwon while the South Korean star was ranked outside the top 400.
The Kazakhstani has learned plenty of lessons from his inconsistent 2025, but his inability to defeat lower-ranked stars has cost him in his hunt to gain ATP Finals qualification.
The star clearly competes better against top-ranked players, but it’s a mentality that he desperately needs to change in 2026.
An insight into Alexander Bublik’s best season yet
Bublik is yet to crack the ATP top 10, but he’s certainly jostling with the best players in the world when it comes to records in 2025.
The star has won more titles on the ATP Tour this year than every other player except Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
He’s won four titles on all three surfaces in 2025 by winning finals in Halle, the Swiss Open, the Austrian Open, and the Hangzhou Open.
Bublik’s win at Halle, the ATP 500 tournament, was particularly impressive as his fourth grass court tournament by defeating Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, and Karen Khachanov.
While Bublik’s season did not end with ATP Finals qualification, or even a top 10 finish, it’s given the star an incredible platform to jump from in 2026.
