The Laver Cup has become a popular fixture on the ATP Tour as Roger Federer’s Ryder Cup-style event pits Team Europe against Team World.

The event was founded by the Swiss star in 2017 and has run every year since in a variety of locations, including London, San Francisco, and Prague.

Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz will play the 2026 Laver Cup this year as they look to respond to Team World’s victory in 2025.

Alex de Minaur has become a Laver Cup stalwart in recent years and he has now named his dream team from the history of tennis.

Alex de Minaur’s dream Laver Cup team

De Minaur played and won all three of his matches at the 2025 Laver Cup, earning Team World seven points in the process.

The Australian was one of the deciding factors in Andre Agassi’s Team World toppling Yannick Noah’s Team Europe.

Will Alex de Minaur finish 2026 ranked inside the top five?

Asked to compile his dream Team World squad for the Laver Cup, de Minaur named some of the finest players from tennis history.

Speaking to the Laver Cup’s social media, he said: “I’d have Agassi, Lleyton [Hewitt], Sampras, Pat Rafter there as well. If I had to choose one captain, Rod Laver. There you go!”

Although none of those players have officially played Laver Cup, some are affiliated with the popular tournament.

Agassi and Rafter are the current captains of Team World, while Rod Laver is the inspiration behind the tournament’s name. Hewitt and Sampras are yet to join up with the Laver Cup, however.

Alex de Minaur’s impressive Laver Cup record

It’s no wonder de Minaur has stayed so invested in the Laver Cup, as he has often shone at the tournament.

The Australian has played the event twice, in 2022 and 2025, both years in which his Team World squad have won.

The star has played five matches across singles and doubles, and yet he’s only faced defeat on one occasion.

De Minaur has won eight points for Team World in his two appearances, so it’s no surprise he has signed up for the 2026 event.
