Alex de Minaur’s latest triumph at the Laver Cup has seen him propelled into the same conversation as Nick Kyrgios.
The ‘Demon,’ who was a late call-up following the withdrawal of Frances Tiafoe, performed magnificently throughout the tournament, winning all three of his matches.
Ultimately, de Minaur’s presence stifled Team Europe, with the Australian outperforming many of his Laver Cup peers across the three days.
The Australian star won seven points across the tournament, defeating Alexander Zverev and Jakub Mensik in singles, while also triumphing against Casper Ruud and Holger Rune in doubles.
His victory against Mensik held particular importance, as he equalled compatriot Nick Kyrgios.

With victory over Jakub Mensik on Sunday, Alex de Minaur made Australian history.
As per OptaAce, Alex de Minaur has become the second Australian player to register four victories at the Laver Cup, alongside Nick Kyrgios.
Kyrgios has played at four Laver Cup events, winning three doubles matches and one singles match.
De Minaur won his first Laver Cup match in 2022, defeating Andy Murray 5-7, 6-3, 10-7 during Team World’s triumph that year.
This year, de Minaur picked up his second Laver Cup victory against Alexander Zverev, defeating the German 6-1, 6-4.
A third victory followed, as the Australian combined with Alex Michelsen to defeat Holger Rune and Casper Ruud in doubles, 6-3, 6-4.
The Australian’s fourth Laver Cup victory came against 20-year-old Czech star Jakub Mensik on Sunday. De Minaur defeated Mensik 6-3 6-4.
Team World win their third Laver Cup title
Alex de Minaur certainly played a significant role in the success of Team World at the Laver Cup this year.
The Australian’s three victories totalled seven points for the team in red – almost half of Team World’s total points at the event.
On the final evening, Carlos Alcaraz rescued Team Europe from the brink, defeating Francisco Cerundolo 6-2 6-1 during the first contest of the evening.

However, Taylor Fritz had other ideas, sealing Team World’s victory with a 6-3, 7-6 victory over Alexander Zverev.
