Djokovic takes yet another record from Nadal as Serb continues relentless quest for tennis history

Novak Djokovic continued his seemingly relentless record to strip Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer of their records after moving to the top of another list in Rome.

Djokovic battled his way past a spirited Casper Ruud to earn a place in the Italian Open final, and with it separated himself from the pack.

The world number one went into the tournament level with Rafael Nadal on 51 Masters-level finals, one ahead of Roger Federer, but he now owns that record outright.

Indeed, the list serves to highlight the dominance of the big three, with Andy Murray the only other player in the top ten still currently active.

US legends Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras sandwich Murray on the list, and it’s then a long way back again to Boris Becker in seventh.

Djokovic will take another record from Nadal should he win the final, with the pair currently sharing the most Masters-level titles (35).
