Novak Djokovic says he is ‘just as motivated as ever’ to keep winning titles ahead of Rome final
Novak Djokovic says he still has the hunger for titles after he saw off Casper Ruud to reach another Masters final in Rome.
Djokovic was given an incredibly stern test by world number 35 Ruud in windy conditions, but he showed all his usual fighting spirit to find a way to win.
The world number one currently shares the record for Masters titles with Rafael Nadal, and will set a new record of 36 should he beat Diego Schwartzman in Monday’s final.
And, perhaps ominously for his rivals, he says he is just as hungry as ever for more.
“Of course, finals at such a big event means a lot even after 15 years being on the tour,” Novak Djokovic said.
“I still am as motivated to get my hands on the trophy. It’s super important, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.
“I don’t take anything for granted, even after 15 years on the Tour, I still enjoy it.
“I still have a hunger for the titles and putting myself in a position to fight for the title is exactly where I want to be.”
