Roger Federer has used this incredible moment in time during the coronavirus lockdown to put forward a plan to combine the organisation of men’s and women’s tennis

Federer says that fans find tennis confusing with there being two completely separate tours for the mens and women’s game. He wants to see the game merged and controlled by one global body that would manage and administer the game as a whole with no distinction between the mens and women’s tours.

**Sorry to interrupt but we wanted to inform you that the latest 164 page, print issue of tennishead magazine is now FREE for everyone to order (It normally costs $25/£12). There is a small shipping cost but we’ll deliver anywhere in the world. Or you can order a copy for yourself and a free copy for a friend.**

Federer’s comments came in a stream of posts on his persona Twitter account where he said: “Just wondering…..am I the only one thinking that now is the time for men’s and women’s tennis to be united and come together as one?I am picturing a merger between the WTA and ATP.I am not talking about merging competition on the court, but merging the 2 governing bodies (ATP and WTA) that oversee the men’s and women’s professional tours….”
