Improver racket review: Yonex VCore Xi Lite

After bringing you the latest range of rackets directed at advanced and intermediate players in our last two issues, now it’s the turn of those who haven’t quite shed the tennis L-plates to sit up and take note.

After testing nine improver frames at Dukes Meadows indoor courts in West London, here's what we thought of the Yonex VCore Xi Lite.

What the experts say
With its £70 price tag this racket offers excellent value for money. The Isometric head shape favoured by Yonex creates a good size sweet spot and helps with spin.

What the testers say
The testers really enjoyed the spin the VCore Lite added to their game from the back of the court. Bobby thought it offered him a great combination of power, control and feel too. "I really liked this racket. I like to hit with quite a lot of power so the spin really helped keep my shots under control." Jo on the other hand wasn't as big a fan. "I noticed my shots had more spin but I thought the control was slightly lacking.”
