Novak Djokovic schedule: Serbian confirms his first event of 2023 season
Novak Djokovic will start his 2023 season by playing in Adelaide at the start of January, he has confirmed.
Djokovic had an incredible last quarter of the season as he won in Tel-Aviv, Astana and Turin. He also reached the final of the Paris Masters.
He will be allowed to enter Australia again next year, and he plans to make the most of it by playing a key warm-up tournament before the Australian Open.
According to his official website, Novak Djokovic will play in the first of back-to-back tournaments in Adelaide, starting on January 2. He will then take a week’s break before the Australian Open starts on January 14.
Djokovic is 35-years-old now but he has looked as good as ever since arriving at Wimbledon this year, where he won the 21st major of his career.
However, his coach Goran Ivanisevic says anyone who is hoping Novak Djokovic to wind down any time soon is in for a disappointment.
“He’s practicing even harder than he was at 22,” Ivanisevic recently said. “That’s why he’s still so good. You know, the will to practice to improve, the will to be better is amazing. He’s taking care of his body.”
“In my time, we stop tennis at 31, you’re ready to leave… Look at Roger [Federer], couple years back. Look at Rafa [Nadal]. They’ll talk about young players, and it’s great for tennis.
“You have the youngest number one in the world, Carlos [Alcaraz]. But you know, look at Novak, he’s still hungry, still winning, he’s still playing unbelievable tennis.”
Djokovic will be in action before Adelaide too, with him scheduled to play the World Tennis League exhibition in Dubai on December 19.
