The blustery conditions were the story of the match and it was Nadal who went into the final with a better gameplan and executed it to perfection, coming away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Scot in an hour and 20 minutes.
The victory marked Nadals second success at the Tennis Garden after winning there in 2007. He now has 13 Masters titles to his name just four victories behind all-time Masters leader Andre Agassi.
“The conditions today were really difficult, but I think I have good strategy and I played a really good match with those conditions, Nadal said afterwards.
Probably Andy didn’t play his best because of the conditions, but I think I played a really complete match, moving very well. I never stop the legs during all the match, and I think that was the key today.
