‘Novak Djokovic is better than Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer by all parameters…’
Novak Djokovic is better than rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer ‘by all parameters,’ says former French Open finalist Nikola Pilic.
Djokovic won his 21st major at Wimbledon on Sunday, which is one more than Federer has but one fewer than Nadal.
Despite him still trailing Nadal in the Slam race, though, Pilic insists that there simply isn’t a case to be made for anyone being the greatest ever player other than Novak Djokovic.
“Novak is better than Nadal and Federer by all parameters,” Pilic told Sport Klub.
“He was the number one player in the world for 374 weeks, which is impressive. Also, no one except him has won all the Grand Slam titles twice (note, Nadal does now have that feat to his name too), and Novak has a positive head-to-head with almost all players.
“But of course, hats off to Nadal too. For hundreds of years, no one will win 14 titles at Roland Garros like him.”
Nikola Pilic was as impressed as everyone else as Novak Djokovic put his tough year behind him to win Wimbledon last week.
Some have suggested that Djokovic was helped by the injury that forced Nadal to withdraw before the semi-final, but Pilic does not believe it made even the slightest bit of difference.
“A very important tournament for Novak, more important than any before,” Pilic said.
“Nadal didn’t play well the whole tournament,” he said. “He struggled with form, I don’t think he could beat Djokovic in the final. I’m pretty sure of that.”
