The 22-year-old Russian fought back from two breaks down in the first set before wrapping up a 7-5 6-3 win in 95 minutes in her final match before the first grand slam of the year in Melbourne.
The world number 14 was unable to defend her Australian Open crown last year due to injury after shoulder surgery kept the three-time grand slam winner sidelined for nine months until May last year.
But after beating Venus Williams in Thailand last week and after recording a battling win over China’s Zheng Jie in Hong Kong, Sharapova is a genuine contender heading to Australia despite sliding down the world rankings following her length lay-off.
“I have had three great matches against three different types of players,” she said.
“It was a little up and down (against Wozniacki), but overall it is definitely good to have these wins behind me.”
