The 21-year-old won her first career championship earlier this year at Stanford to become the first Canadian in 20 years to win a WTA singles title.
She has soared from 147th to her current ranking of 37th over the course of the season and is the overwhelming Canadian number one considering no other player from the country is inside the top 100.
Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan prevented an all-Canadian match-up in the quarter-finals after beating qualifier Rebecca Marino 6-1 6-3.
France’s Nathalie Dechy, a two-time semi-finalist at the Challenge Bell, remained in the hunt for her first title of the season after upsetting seventh seed Olga Govortsova 6-1 7-5.
Dechy will face American lucky loser Angela Haynes, a 6-2 6-4 winner over Severine Bremond of France, in the last eight.
