Norfolk, nicknamed the ‘Quadfather’, defeated Johan Andersson of Sweden 6-2 6-2 in one hour one minute at the Olympic Green Tennis Center to retain the title he won in Athens.
The 47-year-old had won bronze on day seven of the games in the quad doubles alongside Jamie Burdekin.
Norfolk, who has a host of titles across the world, including the US Open, entered the court to the theme music from ‘The Godfather’ and did not disappoint, racing to a comfortable victory.
“The atmosphere out there was the best I’ve ever played in,” said Norfolk, from Alton, Hampshire.
“It was stirring. The enthusiasm of the crowd was fantastic and I loved it.”
Norfolk then pledged to bid for a third successive gold in London in four years time.
“I’m going to be there,” he added.
“If this is what it’s like in China, imagine what it will be like in London. I can’t wait.”
