‘Amazing Achievement’ – Novak Djokovic pays tribute to record-breaking Rafael Nadal
Novak Djokovic has congratulated Rafael Nadal for his ‘amazing achievement’ of winning 21 Grand Slam singles titles.
Djokovic and Roger Federer were tied with Rafael Nadal for career majors going into the tournament, and it was the Serbian who was expected to pull out in front.
However, he was not allowed to play after being deported due to a vaccination row, leaving Nadal to take ruthless advantage and take both the title and history for himself.
Nadal has also matched Djokovic’s achievement of winning every major multiple times.
Shortly after the amazing Australian Open final was concluded, Djokovic was quick to pass his congratulations to Nadal, as well as the other finalists in what has been a memorable tournament.
“There has been some outstanding tennis played at this yearโs Australian Open and the finals were exceptional,” Djokovic said on Instagram.
“Congratulations to Ash Barty for an amazing performance in front of her home crowd and to Danielle Collins for an incredible tournament.
