Andy Roddick has withdrawn from the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after failing to recover from the knee injury he picked up just over a month ago.
“I am really disappointed to miss the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals,” said the world No.6 last night. “I love playing in London and I’ve heard so many good things about the venue.
“However, I have not fully recovered from my knee injury and I won’t be able to compete. One of my goals in 2010 will be to qualify for this event again.”
French sports website The Times also reporting that the American is set to announce his withdrawal.

The World No.6, who sustained the injury in Shanghai just over a month ago, makes way for Robin Soderling to join the eight-man field in London. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga becomes the first alternate.
Rumours that the American was planning on pulling out circulated yesterday on twitter – of course – after American tennis writer James La Rosa indicated Roddick was set to announce his withdrawal.
The ATP are yet to receive an official withdrawal from Roddick and expect him to arrive in London on Thursday, but it seems increasingly likely that the former world No.1 is set to miss the year-end championships for the second time in his career, having skipped the Tennis Masters Cup in 2005.
Roddick also withdrew midway through last year’s event, with Radek Stepanek stepping in to complete the round robin matches in his place.
