French final defeat for Watson

The 17-year-old from Guernsey and partner Timea Babos, from Hungary, were defeated 10-8 in a champions tie-break by second seeds Elena Bogdan and Noppawan Lertcheewakarn.

Watson and Babos, the third seeds, had taken the first set 6-3 but dropped the second by the same scoreline.

Watson was earlier this week defeated in the opening round of the singles competition by France’s Gracia Radovanovic.

The Briton currently has a career-high junior world ranking of 12.
