Could Emma Raducanu feature at the 2021 WTA Finals?
Despite being ranked at 338 in the world when she received a wildcard at Wimbledon in June, Emma Raducanu now has a chance of landing a spot at the prestigious WTA finals.
The 18-year-old Brit won the hearts of the British fans with a surprising fourth round run at SW19, before becoming a global superstar by winning the US Open title as a qualifier without dropping a set.
Following her US Open heroics, Raducanu has surged to 22nd in the WTA rankings and will get another chance to improve on her current position at Indian Wells in October.
Should the Brit continue her form on American soil, she will enter the top 20, though could also cap off her year with a spot in the WTA finals event.
The eight players who compete in the invitational event is based on their points obtained for 2021, with Raducanu currently sitting in 14th in the WTA singles race with 2282 points to her name.
However, with doubts over whether the likes of Ash Barty and Naomi Osaka will compete, an impressive run in California could see Raducanu sneak into the end-of-year tournament.
After making her WTA debut in June, it would be the perfect end to a stunning year for the 18-year-old.
