Stefanos Tsitsipas: ‘Lorenzo Musetti has everything. I see no reason why he won’t reach the top’
Stefanos Tsitsipas said Lorenzo Musetti will be challenging him “in the next couple of years” after beating the 19-year-old in the Lyon semi-finals.
The world No. 5 defeated the Italian 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the last four of the ATP 250 tournament on Saturday.
World No. 88 Musetti has reached two tour-level semi-finals this year – with the other coming in Acapulco, where he also lost to Tsitsipas.
“He has a lot of potential and he has proved himself multiple times before,” Tsitsipas said in his post-match press conference.
“He’s definitely a competitor that I will take seriously and a player that will be challenging me in the next couple of years. I see him at the top. I see no reason he won’t be there.
“But that also will have to do a lot with his mentality and the way he approaches his tennis and how much he works hard to get to the top of the game. I see no reason that he won’t be a good player. He has everything.”
