The top seeded Russian was untroubled throughout her contest with seventh seed Peer and will meet the unranked Sania Mirza in the final.

Zvonareva dominated from the start as she broke serve in the second game before racing into a 5-0 lead and, although Peer pulled a game back, Zvonareva successfully held her serve to claim the opening set. The second set went initially with serve before Zvonareva again broke before closing out the remaining games to win the match in 61 minutes.

In the other semi-final, India’s Mirza defeated Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia 6-4 5-7 6-1 to keep alive her hopes of a second WTA singles title.

Mirza, who last year was plagued by a string of wrist injuries, was serving for a straight-sets victory when Rybarikova broke serve before winning the next two games to take the second set 7-5.

But she faced less trouble in the final set as she quickly raced to a 6-1 victory to secure her passage to the final.
