Coric, 17, upset No.7 seed Edouard Roger-Vasselin to claim his first main draw win and backed it up with a win over the Argentine on Thursday at the Vegeta Croatia Open.

“Yeeess!!! I beat Horacio Zeballos 7-6(4) 6-3,” the world No.230 posted on his facebook page. “Thank you for all your support.”

Coric won the opening set on a tiebreak when the pair played in the first round of his home event last year, but went on to lose the match 6-7(5) 6-4 6-0. However, the US Open boys’ champion broke for a 4-2 lead in the second set and saved two break points in the following game on his way to securing a place in the last eight. He will face top seed Fabio Fognini in the quarter-finals after the Italian saw off Albert Montanes 7-6(2) 6-0.

Coric is the third teenager this month to make a breakthrough on the ATP World Tour. Nick Kyrgios, 19, hit the headlines at Wimbledon with his shock fourth-round victory over Rafael Nadal, while Australian Open boys champion Alexander Zverev reached the semi-finals in Hamburg last week.
