Third seed Wozniak wasted little time on her way to a 6-1 6-1 win and will play Hungarian Melinda Czink in the last four, following the latter’s progression past Russia’s Nadia Petrova – who had to retire mid-match after losing a first-set tie-break.

The other semi-final will concern fourth seed Lucie Safarova, of the Czech Republic – who beat American wild card Bethanie Mattek-Sands in straight sets – and German Julia Goerges after her 6-2 6-4 victory over qualifier Lilia Osterloh, of the United States.
