The world number 16, who won her first two career titles at Stockholm and New Haven in August, will next face Jarmila Gajdosova of Slovakia, a 7-5 7-5 winner against Czech Klara Zakopalova.

In the bottom half of the draw, fifth seed Kaia Kanepi overcame Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7/1). She will face eighth seed Aleksandra Wozniak in the last four after the Canadian cruised to a 7-5 6-3 victory over Australia’s Samantha Stosur.
