Wim Fissette has quickly found success following his separation from Iga Swiatek after the Miami Open.
Swiatek announced Fissette’s departure after suffering an early exit at the hands of Magda Linette in Miami.
The Pole very quickly announced Rafael Nadal’s former coach Francisco Roig as Fissette’s replacement, while the Belgian quickly found a new role too.
Fissette joined up with the Belgium Billie Jean King Cup team and he’s overseen a remarkable result for his nation.

Wim Fissette steers Belgium into the Billie Jean King Cup finals
Fissette was given the monumental task of trying to get Belgium through a tough test against the United States in the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.
Belgium, featuring Hanne Vandewinkel, Elise Mertens, and Greet Minnen, played last year’s finalist, United States, on home soil.
While some of the United States’ best players, including Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, and Jessica Pegula, were not featured, they still had a strong team on paper.
Iva Jovic, McCartney Kessler, and Caty McNally played for the United States, but they were firmly beaten 3-1 by a Belgium team led by Fissette.
That included remarkable singles victories for Vandewinkel and Minnen against Jovic, who has been in red-hot form in 2026.
United States has been ever-present in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals over the years, and 2026 will be the first time in a decade they have not qualified.
Fissette will now lead Belgium into the Billie Jean King Cup finals, which take place in Shenzhen, China in September.
The Billie Jean King Cup finalist are now set
Belgium’s remarkable victory against the United States was not the only shock at the Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers.
Great Britain, without Katie Boulter, Fran Jones, and Emma Raducanu, managed to comprehensively defeat Australia to earn their place in the finals.

They will be joined by home nation China, Kazakhstan, Czech Republic, last year’s champions Italy, Spain, and Ukraine.
The Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers was devoid of star power, with many players choosing to begin their clay court season instead of represent their country.
They will undoubtedly return for the Finals, with the likes of Elena Rybakina, Karolina Muchova, Jasmine Paolini, and Raducanu potentials to play.
Italy, Great Britain, Spain, and Czech Republic are seeded for the Finals, so they will not play each other in the first round.
