Carlos Alcaraz continued his stellar 2025 season on Tuesday, winning his eighth ATP Tour title at the Japan Open.
Despite a spirited performance by Taylor Fritz, who was clearly struggling with a leg injury, he was unable to prevent Alcaraz from emerging victorious under the closed Tokyo roof.
Since losing the Wimbledon final in July, Alcaraz has been on a tear, winning 18 of his last 19 singles matches.
His form was no different on Tuesday, as even Fritz – who recently defeated Alcaraz at the Laver Cup – could not navigate his way past the Spaniard.
While Alcaraz – who won 6-4, 6-4 – will be happy to have clinched another title, he was certainly not pleased about one particular aspect of the match.
Carlos Alcaraz was unhappy to receive a time violation

While sitting down at the change of ends midway through the first set, Alcaraz expressed his displeasure at receiving a time violation during the previous game.
While discussing the matter, Alcaraz referenced a particularly long, lung-busting point he and Fritz contested in the previous game.
While sat in his chair, Alcaraz said: “Do you think this is normal? It is normal, or no? I’m asking a question, is it normal or no?
“Finish the point at the net, I’m a little bit tired about the ball (after the point) and I can go to ask for the balls.
“Do you think this is normal or no?
Following the umpire’s response, which could not be heard, Alcaraz appeared less than pleased.
The Spaniard said to Murphy: “You haven’t played tennis in your life, come on. You’ve never played tennis in your life.”
Alcaraz’s Japan Open prize pot
Carlos Alcaraz has received a tidy sum of money after clinching victory in Japan.
After defeating Fritz, the Spaniard was pictured holding a cheque for $416,365.
The 22-year-old has also managed to maintain his ATP points total. By winning the Japan Open, he has matched the 500 points he won at the China Open last year.
Therefore, the Spaniard remains on 11,540 ATP points.
