Arthur Fils has been heralded by many as the man destined to soon challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance over the ATP Tour.

However, when discussing it recently, the Frenchman insisted that this was not on his mind.

In fact, he actually claimed that he was ‘forgetting’ about this duo entirely, speaking on his latest YouTube video.

It’s refreshing to see players take ownership of their own image just as Arthur Fils has done with this series, which provides not only a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be an elite-level tennis player, but also an insight into his bright personality too.

Whilst discussing his indifference towards Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, he would also outline his goals for the near future.

The footage captured was actually taken right after his bruising loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the Doha final earlier this year.

There, Fils lost in record time, with the 6-2, 6-1 scoreline actually a flattering one.

The Spaniard was rampant, yet the 21-year-old remained calm in the aftermath.

He admitted: “The most important thing is not to say that ‘next time I play him, I’ll beat him’. The most important thing is to forget about Alcaraz and Sinner, for now.

“I was in the top 15. First, I’m getting back there. After that, I need to get into the top ten, then maybe the top five.

“And then we’ll see with these two champions, because for now, we’re not there yet.

“It’s a painful defeat, but it also opens your eyes. It was good.”

Ironically, Jannik Sinner recently said if he saw Fils as a genuine rival, pinpointing him as a threat on the clay, particularly.

What titles has Arthur Fils won in his career?

Fils may only be young, but he has already enjoyed a hugely successful career whilst also suffering a hugely crippling injury too.

It has been an unpredictable few years for the youngster, experiencing sensational highs and the lowest of lows, the latter of which actually saw him ruled out for the majority of 2025 with a back injury that completely ravaged his progress.

Fortunately, he has returned to winning ways expertly this year, claiming his first title in over a year and a half by winning Barcelona last week.

This marked the fourth title of his career, and matched the biggest trophy he had ever won, with it being another ATP 500-level event alongside Tokyo.

Fils also won the Hamburg Open in 2024 and his first-ever title in Lyon in 2023.
