Arthur Fery has made history by reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

On Monday afternoon, the 23-year-old Briton stunned Grigor Dimitrov in five sets to book his place in the last eight.

Fery, who will play Flavio Cobolli in the next round, admitted he had ‘no words’ after securing the gargantuan victory.

Give us your one crazy prediction for the second week of Wimbledon!

Fery is only the second British man to reach the quarter-finals in the past decade, following Cameron Norrie and Andy Murray.

Speaking of Murray, when did the two-time Wimbledon champion first make a quarter-final appearance at the All England Club?

Andy Murray’s 2008 Wimbledon campaign

After reaching the third round in 2005 and the fourth round in 2006, Murray made his quarter-final debut at Wimbledon in 2008.

The young star began his campaign in emphatic fashion, beating Fabrice Santoro and Xavier Malisse in straight sets.

After defeating Tommy Haas in four sets, the 12th-seeded Briton beat eighth seed Richard Gasquet in a five-set thriller, triumphing 5-7, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Murray then came unstuck against future Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal

Nadal, the world number two, defeated Murray 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

“I played my best match here for sure,” said Nadal after the match, as reported by the BBC.

“I tried to play aggressively all the time, and tried to attack his second serve, but a win like this is always surprising – against someone like Andy who came back so well against Gasquet.

“Probably he felt tired. It’s always tough in Grand Slams, so that’s normal.

“I’m sorry for him, but he’s going to be in the top five very soon if he keeps playing like this and he has a good chance of winning Wimbledon.”

Nadal went on to win the title, defeating five-time defending champion Roger Federer in the final.

Arthur Fery’s big opportunity

Fery, the world number 114, now has the opportunity to achieve the unthinkable and reach the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time.

The 23-year-old will play Flavio Cobolli in the next round – a player whom Fery defeated at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Fery won their first round match 7-6, 6-4, 6-1, as Cobolli struggled with gastrointestinal issues.

On Serena Williams

Keys: I thought it was really impressive. Maya has been struggling and was playing really well and obviously got nervous trying to close out the match, which is to be expected when you have been struggling.
But it was also so impressive how Serena is just back and competitive.

Pegula: It’s crazy. I felt like I was in a time warp. I thought she looked pretty good. I don’t know what I was really expecting, because it has been a while but it hasn’t been 10 years. But I thought she looked good and she seemed very relaxed.
I felt like towards the end before she retired she was maybe more emotional because she knew she was stopping, but I felt like she was really relaxed when she was out there.
She was just like I’m just out here to play for my daughter and have fun and show my family and compete because I love it. I felt like I could see that difference this time around.

“I felt great,” Fery said during his post-match press conference. “I felt very comfortable on that court.

“Obviously playing three matches beforehand in quallies really helped. Yeah, I love Melbourne in general.”

Fery and Cobolli are scheduled to play their Wimbledon quarter-final on Wednesday at 2:40 pm British Summer Time.
