Alexandra Eala is set to break a four-month streak at the Guangzhou Open as she continues her Asian swing.

The 20-year-old has played several tournaments in Asia, including the Wuhan Open, Suzhou, and Jingshan.

For the most part, Eala opted for smaller WTA tournaments in Asia, which have allowed her to climb up the rankings.

Eala will head to the Guangzhou Open next as she continues a busy WTA Asian swing, and she’s set to do something she hasn’t done since Wimbledon.

Alexandra Eala will play doubles at the Guangzhou Open

The Filipino star has been focused on singles action since the summer, but the rising star has also entered the doubles in Guangzhou.

The star will team with veteran Nadiia Kichenok, who has previously reached a career-high ranking of World No. 100 in the singles and World No. 54 in the doubles.

The pair will play Polina Kudermetova and Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round, two players who have also played both formats.

Eala will also be in singles action, but she’s yet to find out her opponent at the Asian event. The star will play a qualifier in the opening round.

Should Eala get through to the second round in Guanghzhou, Anna Bondár or Guo Hanyu await the winner.

What happened when Alexandra Eala last played doubles

Eala’s last doubles outing at Wimbledon did not go to plan for the rising star, who went out in the first round of both formats.

The Filipino was knocked out by former Grand Slam winner Barbora Krejčíková in singles and she met the same fate in doubles.

The star teamed with fellow rising star Eva Lys in doubles, but they were beaten in straight sets by alternatives Quinn Gleason and Ingrid Martins.

Eala will be hoping for a more successful stint in the format when she teams with Kichenok for the first time in her career.
