Alex de Minaur continued to impress onlookers during a comfortable victory over Nuno Borges at the Shanghai Masters.
After a close first set, the Australian pulled away from his Portuguese opponent, winning the contest 7-5, 6-2.
Consequently, de Minaur will face either Daniil Medvedev or Learner Tien in the Shanghai Masters quarter-finals.
The ‘Demon’ has proven to be one of the most consistent players on the ATP Tour this season, consistently reaching the latter stages of Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events.
And following his latest victory on Wednesday, de Minaur has achieved yet another milestone.
Alex de Minaur has won 50 matches in 2025

Including the Laver Cup, Alex de Minaur has cracked the 50-win ceiling for the first time in his career.
De Minaur now has a record of 50 wins and 18 losses on the ATP Tour this season.
In fact, de Minaur sits with Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz as the only three players to break the 50-win mark in 2025.
De Minaur is the first Australian player to have breached the 50-win mark since Lleyton Hewitt in 2002.
Hewitt, a former world number one, achieved a record of 61 wins and 15 losses in 2002. During that year, Hewitt won Wimbledon and Indian Wells, while also reaching the final of the Cincinnati Open and Paris Masters.
It was the second time Hewitt had won 61 matches in a single season, having also achieved the feat in 2000.

Alex de Minaur’s improved serving
Alex de Minaur recently noted an improvement in his serving after making a couple of ‘tweaks,’ and these improvements were certainly evident during his victory against Borges in Shanghai.
As per Sofascore, de Minaur made 61 per cent of his first serves, winning 79 per cent of those points.
Remarkably, de Minaur also won a staggering 81 per cent of his second serve points, and also saved all three of Borges’ break-point opportunities.
