Victoria Mboko has detailed the physical issues she was having after her defeat to Madison Keys.
Mboko, who has recently started working with Wim Fissette, was sporting a heavy strapping on her right arm against Keys.
This did not prevent the world number nine from competing, with Mboko saving two match points to force a third set against Keys.
After Mboko ultimately lost to Keys 6-3, 5-7, 7-5, she provided an update on how she was feeling physically after her Roland Garros exit.

Victoria Mboko admits she was ‘not feeling 100%’ after Roland Garros exit
Mboko was asked about how she was feeling physically in her post-match press conference, with the Canadian admitting she was not fully fit.
“I mean, of course, Madison not an easy player to play. She came out playing some great tennis,” said Mboko.
“Of course, maybe I wasn’t feeling 100% or didn’t feel like I was playing my best, but, you know, she played better in the points where it mattered the most, so kudos to her.”
Who is now your favourite to win the women’s Roland Garros title?
With Coco Gauff out, the draw feels WIDE open…
Mboko then confirmed that it was a pectoral issue that she was struggling with, but she was happy with how the injury was progressing.
“Yeah, I mean, I started feeling the pec a little bit in Strasbourg, the tournament before, so, yeah, I mean, I kind of tried to support it a little bit, and I felt like it kind of wasn’t really giving me a lot of power on it,” explained Mboko.
“I wouldn’t say it’s hurting me to the point where I can’t play because I’m able to play. But um, I mean, it’s just been getting better each day and I’m just happy, like to be able to play.”
What is next for Victoria Mboko?
Mboko will be hoping that her injury continues to recover ahead of the grass court season, where she has some potentially exciting upcoming matches.
The 19-year-old will begin her grass court season at the Queen’s Club Championships, where Mboko is rumoured to be playing doubles with Serena Williams, as well as singles.
That is one of two grass court tournaments Mboko has entered ahead of Wimbledon, having also signed up for the Berlin Tennis Open.
Who would you like to see Serena Williams play doubles with if she returns?
Mboko was a lucky loser on her Wimbledon debut last year, but she is very likely to be a top 10 seed at the grass court major just one year later.
She now has just over a week to fully recover from her injury, before Mboko returns to competition at Queen’s, which begins on Monday, June 8.
