Victoria Mboko has been spotted training with Grand Slam-winning coach Wim Fissette.

The Canadian reached the third round of Roland Garros on debut last year, and is leaving no stone unturned as she looks to make a deeper run in 2026.

Is a French Open boycott realistic?

Players aren't happy with the prize money on offer…

Working with one of the best coaches in the game, only time will tell what Mboko can achieve in Paris this year.

As reported by ‘AlErsalpod‘, Mboko has been seen working with Iga Swiatek’s former coach, Wim Fissette, in Strasbourg, ahead of her final French Open warm-up event.

At this stage, it’s unclear whether Mboko and Fissette are working together full-time, whether this is a trial, or simply a one-off practice session.

If Mboko has tied Fissette down to a long-term deal, it will be very interesting to see how she develops on tour.

Fissette is a world-class coach and has won Grand Slam titles with four different players.

Mboko has yet to win a major title, and if she has hired Fissette, she will be hoping he can guide her to a maiden triumph this year.

It should be noted, however, that the French Open is the one major title Fissette hasn’t won as a coach.

And Swiatek, one of the best clay-courters of her generation, struggled on the surface with the Belgian in her corner.

Perhaps something for Mboko and her fans to be wary of over the next month or so.

When could Wim Fissette coach Victoria Mboko for the first time?

Earlier this month, Mboko withdrew from the Italian Open due to illness.

Wanting to play more matches before the French Open, Mboko signed up for the WTA 500 event in Strasbourg.

There, she will compete as the top seed in a strong field that includes Grand Slam champions Emma Raducanu and Madison Keys.

If Fissette is Mboko’s new coach, we could see him in her corner for her opening match against either Lois Boisson or Wang Xinyu in the second round.

The Canadian will be desperate to win, having failed to secure victory on clay so far this year.

Mboko has only played one match on the surface, which she lost to Caty McNally in Madrid.

If Mboko can win her second-round match, the tests will only get tougher from then on.

It remains to be seen what Mboko can achieve in Strasbourg and, more importantly, if Fissette will join her.
