Victoria Mboko handed wildcard for Roland Garros warm-up event that features Madison Keys and Iva Jovic

Victoria Mboko’s last competitive appearance on the WTA Tour occurred at the end of April.

Mboko, seeded 10th at the Madrid Open, was defeated in the first round by American player Caty McNally.

The Canadian was due to play in the Italian Open at the start of May and had been scheduled to play home favourite Tyra Caterina Grant.

Unfortunately for Canadian tennis fans, the 19-year-old withdrew from the event just hours before her opening match.

Mboko’s fans can now look forward to her return, after her participation in a French Open warm-up event was confirmed.

Victoria Mboko set to play the Strasbourg Open

Victoria Mboko is set to conduct her French Open preparations to the east of Paris, in the city of Strasbourg.

“The gem of world tennis arrives in Strasbourg!” a statement on the Strasbourg Open X [formerly Twitter] page read.

At just 19 years old, Victoria Mboko is already impressing the WTA circuit.

“Revealed in 2025 with her first titles in Hong-Kong and Montréal, the current world number nine will discover this year the clay courts of the Internationaux de Strasbourg!”

The teenager, who won the Canadian Open last year, will join the likes of Madison Keys, Leylah Fernandez and Iva Jovic in the French City.

The Canadian is now the highest-ranked player on the Strasbourg Open entry list.

Victoria Mboko’s 2025 Roland Garros campaign

Victoria Mboko was a relatively unknown quantity heading into the 2025 French Open.

The Canadian was on the fringes of the WTA Tour, and had yet to announce herself to the wider tennis community.

However, a 22-match win streak earlier in the year had caught the attention of many, and Mboko continued to impress in Paris.

The youngster began her campaign by advancing through qualifying, defeating Sinja Kraus, Kathinka von Deichmann and Kaja Juvan en route.

Mboko continued her excellent form in the main draw, defeating former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Lulu Sun 6-1, 7-6 in the first round.

The 19-year-old then knocked out fellow youngster Eva Lys, 6-4, 6-4.

Mboko’s run was ended by Olympic champion Qinwen Zheng, who won their third-round contest 6-3, 6-4.
