Valentin Vacherot proved his Shanghai Masters win was no fluke by taking Taylor Fritz to his limit at the Swiss Indoors.
Vacherot joined the ATP Tour elite with his Shanghai win and he didn’t look out of place as a wild card entry against Taylor Fritz.
The 26-year-old took the first set off Fritz, but then lost the next two to bring his winning streak to an end.
Following his loss to the American, Vacherot has taken to social media to share a message with his fans.

Vacherot is now a top 40 player and there’s every chance he can climb even further up the rankings by the end of 2025.
Taking to social media following his narrow loss to Fritz, Vacherot wrote a message to his fans after a whirlwind month.
“Merci Basel! First of all, thank you Swiss Indoors for the Wild-Card, such a pleasure for me to be here,” said the Shanghai Masters winner on Instagram.
“Second, thank you to the crowd last night, you were amazing and made it so fun out there,” the 26-year-old added.
“Of course disappointed with the loss but happy with my overall level against such a good opponent. See you in the Paris Masters.”
For the first time in his career, Vacherot will be eligible for entry into a Grand Slam without qualifying. The star expected to play at the Australian Open.
What Taylor Fritz said about Valentin Vacherot at the Swiss Indoors
Fritz was aware he had a tricky first-round tie on his hands against the Shanghai Masters winner, and he was full of praise for his opponent after the match.
“As we played the match, I started to see why those conditions [in Shanghai] suit him very well,” Fritz said after dispatching the Monégasque star.
“When the balls got worn out and it slowed down a lot, that’s when he was controlling me the most and dominating me.
“In the last game, I was able to get the break on new balls. I was more in control of the match when it was playing a bit faster.”
Fritz needed a tie-break and a narrow 7-5 deciding set to topple his opponent at the Swiss Indoors.
