Valentin Vacherot has shared what he found difficult during his win against Cameron Norrie at the Paris Masters.

Vacherot has continued to impress at the Paris Masters as he continues his ascent up the rankings following his Shanghai Masters victory.

The star’s victory has seen him crack the top 32 of the ATP rankings, which puts him in a good position to gain seeded entry into the Australian Open.

Despite gaining yet another victory at the Paris Masters, Vacherot shared what he found tough against Norrie.

Valentin Vacherot shares his thoughts on Cameron Norrie after Paris win

Vacherot confirmed his second successive place in a Masters quarter-final by beating Norrie at the Paris Masters, but he was under no illusion that he had to battle for every point against the Brit.

“His backhand is so tough. It stays so low to the ground. I am tall and I have to get so low,” said Vacherot in an interview with Sky Sports.

“It does not bother me to have a lefty backhand coming to my forehand. It allows me to put some spin on it, but his sometimes doesn’t bounce, so I was trying to really quickly go back on to his forehand,” he added.

Despite winning in straight sets, the match between the two players was far closer than the scoreline suggested.

Norrie actually won more points than Vacherot during the match and the Brit had more break point opportunities.

Vacherot was full of praise for Norrie after the match. “I thought he was really good,” said the Monégasque player.

“We have trained a lot together, I know him,” he added. “I was trying to hit my backhand really hard to his forehand, but I think he was responding really well today,” he said.

“So that’s another point why I’m really happy with the win because I think he played really well today,” he added.

Vacherot has truly proved that he belongs in the upper echelons of the ATP Tour, and there’s every chance he could go all the way again just like he did in Shanghai.

What surprised Valentin Vacherot about his win

The Shanghai Masters winner is now on a 10-match winning streak at Masters events, but he still sees room for improvement.

“I am surprising myself in some ways,” he explained after his latest landmark victory. “I saved a lot of break points today.”

“There is some good stuff and some not as good. Not everything is perfect; there’s stuff to work on. Today I was serving well, I didn’t serve so good yesterday. Yesterday I returned good and then not as good today.”

Vacherot will play Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarter-finals, after the Canadian defeated Daniel Altmaier in Paris.
