Valentin Vacherot achieves tennis history by reaching the Monte-Carlo Masters semi-final

Valentin Vacherot’s dream run at his home tournament continued as he booked his place in the Monte-Carlo Masters semi-final.

The 27-year-old defeated Alex de Minaur in three sets to confirm his second top 10 win of the tournament, after knocking out Lorenzo Musetti in the second round.

Vacherot set history for his nation by defeating Musetti, but he continues to break new ground in Monte-Carlo.

The Monegasque star has now carved out a slice of tennis history by defeating de Minaur in the quarter-finals.

Valentin Vacherot achieves first-time tennis feat in Monte-Carlo

Vacherot has proved his exploits at the Shanghai Masters were no fluke by reaching the final four in Monte-Carlo.

The star won the Shanghai Masters in 2025 despite entering the event as a qualifier, and he even picked up a victory against Novak Djokovic.

Vacherot’s displays in Monte-Carlo have arguably been more impressive as he has picked up two top 10 wins en route to the semi-final.

By reaching the final four in Monte-Carlo, Vacherot has become the first player to reach his first two ATP-level semi-finals at Masters 1000 events, according to OptaAce.

Vacherot also reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters last year, which means he currently holds an 18-3 win-loss record in his last four Masters events.

Vacherot is playing on the courts that he grew up on and fans have been well behind him throughout the tournament.

The 27-year-old has been relishing the home support and it certainly helped him get over the line against de Minaur.

Vacherot survived 13 break points during his mammoth three set battle with the Australian, much to the delight of the crowd.

The star heaped praise on the raucous crowd for getting behind him at the Monte-Carlo Masters over the last week.

“All the guys in the crowd chanting, they are my best friends from when I was nine, 10 years old,” Vacherot said.

“It is rare for a player to have this chance to have this many people around. The members sat in the boxes. I am so lucky to have a tournament in my club.”

Vacherot plays world number one Carlos Alcaraz for the first time in his career next in the Monte-Carlo semi-finals.
