The 30-year-old Czech has enjoyed an outstanding season so far this year, his latest string of good results being a run to the fourth round of the 2009 Sony Ericsson Open where he lost to Fernando Verdasco.

He began the year by winning the ATP World Tour event in Brisbane (where he beat Verdasco in the final), made the third round of the Aussie Open and won the ATP event in Delray Beach, gunning down Andy Roddick in the semis and Mardy Fish in the final.

That was followed by yet another final, this time in Memphis, Tennessee, where Roddick got his revenge in the title decider.
