Wimbledon qualifying is well underway and some British tennis players have fought valiantly to earn the opportunity of Wimbledon stardom.
Players have to go through three rounds of qualifying to make the main draw in London to earn the right to possibly play the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff.
Following day two of Wimbledon qualifying, day three produced a mixed bag of results, with some home favourites exiting the competition for another year, while some lesser-known prospects made it through to the final round. Amongst these prospects is a player ranked 719 in the world.
Here are the British players who have made it through to the final round of Wimbledon qualifying.
Oliver Tarvet

The world number 719 has produced a remarkable run at Wimbledon.
First, he beat world number 126 Terence Atmane 6-1 7-6 on day one of Wimbledon qualifying, before easily dispatching Canadian world number 210 Alexis Galarneau on Wednesday, winning 6-3 6-2.
Tarvet could make the Wimbledon main draw on Thursday if he beats Belgian world number 144 Alexander Blockx.
Emily Appleton

Ranked 403 in the world for singles and 83 for doubles, 25-year-old Emily Appleton could make the Wimbledon main draw if she wins her final-round match on Thursday.
Appleton beat Simona Waltert 6-7 6-4 6-3 on day two of Wimbledon qualifying, before producing a gargantuan performance to defeat Czechia’s Barbora Palicova 6-2 6-7 7-6.
Appleton faces Veronica Erjavec in the last qualifying round on Thursday.
Hamish Stewart

After Hamish Stewart’s first-round opponent retired due to injury, the Scotsman won two tiebreaks to advance past France’s Luca Van Assche in the second round, winning 7-6 4-6 7-6.
The world number 550 faces Swiss player Leandro Riedi in his final qualifying match.
Brits knocked out of Wimbledon qualifying
Not all of the British hopes were able to navigate their way to the final round of qualifying.
Oliver Bonding lost 5-7 4-6 to Argentinian Juan Pablo Ficovich, while Paul Jubb was defeated 3-6 2-6 by Italian 23-year-old Giulio Zeppieri.
Ryan Peniston, who reached the Queen’s Club quarter-finals in 2022, lost 6-3 4-6 4-6 to Spaniard Martin Landaluce.
On the women’s side of the draw, Amarni Banks was unable to move on, losing 2-6 4-6 to Katarzyna Kawa.
