Learner Tien and Joao Fonseca are two of the brightest prospects on the ATP Tour, with both players taking significant steps in their careers during 2025.
Earlier in the year, unseeded then 18-year-old Brazilian star Fonseca won his first ATP Tour title at the Argentina Open 250, defeating fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo in the final.
In September, Tien nearly eclipsed Fonseca’s achievement, reaching the final of the China Open before losing to Jannik Sinner.

There is another youngster on the ATP Tour who appears to have been somewhat forgotten, despite his superior 2025 season.
This player’s name is Jakub Mensik.
Jakub Mensik has been the standout young talent on the ATP Tour in 2025
Following a stellar 2025 campaign, it is clear that Jakub Mensik is the most talented young player on the ATP Tour, and he deserves a lot more credit for his achievements so far.
Mensik stunned his peers earlier this season, capturing the Miami Open title aged just 19 years old.

During his run in Miami, Mensik defeated Jack Draper, Arthur Fils, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic on his way to the title.
The enormity of this achievement cannot be overstated. Winning a tournament of that status, at that age, demonstrates the enormity of Mensik’s talent.
Furthermore, Mensik has won the most ATP Tour matches in 2025 of any player aged 21 and under. The Czech has won 31 matches, leading Learner Tien, who has won 26.
| Name | 2025 Win-Loss Record |
| Jakub Mensik | 31-20 |
| Learner Tien | 26-22 |
| Alex Michelsen | 25-25 |
| Arthur Fils | 21-11 |
| Joao Fonseca | 21-15 |
To say Mensik has no credit is no slight on Tien or Fonseca, both of whom are fantastic talents. Simply put, Mensik has achieved the most of any young star on the ATP Tour so far, and deserves greater credit for his improvement and successes on court.
Mensik reacts to ‘tough’ victory in Switzerland
On Monday, Mensik survived a scare in the Swiss Indoors Open first round.
However, the Czech player maintained his composure to defeat 18-year-old world number 481 Henry Bernet.
After his 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 victory, Mensik told the ATP Tour: “It was a really, really tough night. I’ve been in his [position] two years ago, and I know how it feels to be hungry and fight for every point, and I felt it from him today.”
“He has such a huge game, a very aggressive style. One of his great things is his mental strength.”
Like Mensik, Bernet is also a player to watch for the future. The 18-year-old won the Australian Open Boys Singles title in January.
