Nick Kyrgios is one of tennis’ most well-known and discussed individuals, but his stock has taken a dip in recent years.

After all, the 30-year-old has suffered through a string of injuries, and through no fault of his own, he has completely vanished from the competitive scene.

Not too long ago, he went toe-to-toe with Novak Djokovic in a Wimbledon final.

He, and many others, will still believe that such a level is reachable once again.

It will take something truly special to see Nick Kyrgios return to that stage in the future, but he has to start somewhere. That somewhere has now officially been revealed.

Halle Open release statement confirming Nick Kyrgios wildcard

Just weeks after Kyrgios confirmed if he’d be playing the French Open and Wimbledon, exclusively for Tennishead, his next tournament has been cemented.

We will next get to see him play a competitive match at the Halle Open, where he has just been gifted a wildcard.

What would be a successful season for Nick Kyrgios in 2026?

The event, likely delighted that he has chosen their tournament for his comeback, issued the following statement emphasising their excitement.

They wrote: “Nick Kyrgios has been, for years, one of the most flamboyant figures in the tennis world. The Australian is known for his exceptional style, characterised by one of the best serves on tour, as well as spectacular winners and formidable creativity. At the same time, his personality and charisma attract attention far beyond the tennis world.”

When was Nick Kyrgios’ last tennis match?

There have been a few false dawns in Kyrgios’ comeback trail, and the hope is that this return to action in Halle is not another example.

After all, like him or loathe him, the Australian guarantees entertainment when he’s on the court.

It has been some time since fans were treated to his presence, and even longer since Kyrgios was a consistent presence on the ATP Tour.

His last match came at the Brisbane International back in January, where he was beaten by Aleksandar Kovacevic. This clash was sandwiched in between exhibition wins over Zhizhen Zhang and Aryna Sabalenka.

Before that, he had last played competitively in Miami 2025, well over a year ago now.
