Coco Gauff has been the shining light of American tennis for a few years now, despite her youth.
Just 22 years old, it feels as though she has been around forever, with many likely remembering her true breakthrough as a mere 15-year-old on the hallowed Wimbledon turf.
Well, it is this very event where many of Coco Gauff’s compatriots will be looking to match her French Open triumph and claim the title.
With that in mind, here are three who are likely in the best position to achieve that feat.
Ben Shelton has all the tools to be dangerous on the grass
Ben Shelton is a big game player. It’s an indisputable fact.
He shows up for the big occasions and thrives when the pressure is on.
This brash, energetic and highly affable American has enjoyed runs to the semi-final and quarter-finals of different Grand Slam events but is yet to take that next big step to compete for the title.

Well, with an explosive left-handed game that will trouble almost everyone on the tour, alongside a thunderous serve that was tailor-made for the grass, there’s no reason to believe that Shelton won’t show up again on this, arguably the biggest occasion in tennis, to cause an upset at the All England Club.
Carlos Alcaraz made a prediction about Shelton’s future after beating him earlier this month, in an impressive French Open showing against the defending champion .
Madison Keys could win another Grand Slam at Wimbledon
For American tennis, particularly on the women’s side, it arguably does not get better than the current state.
After all, they boast two out of the top three in the WTA world rankings, with both Grand Slams this year having been won by Americans too.
Madison Keys, as the shock victor in Melbourne, will be hoping to maintain her stunning form from 2025 on the grass. Already she is showing signs of a smooth transition, having eased into the semi-finals of Queen’s in its first women’s tournament since 1973.
Now a really consistent performer at these big events, having also reached the quarter-final in Paris too, Keys should head to SW19 brimming with the belief that she can win another major and continue her stunning year.
Tommy Paul needs a breakthrough Grand Slam tournament
Tommy Paul is arguably the most consistent player that America has on the ATP tour, and yet he routinely falls short of reaching the pinnacle of these events.
That being said, he has reached back-to-back quarterfinals in both Grand Slam events this year, and was once a semi-finalist at the Australian Open too.
Tommy Paul’s last five Grand Slam performances
| Event | Year | Round Reached | Defeated by… |
| French Open | 2025 | Quarter-final | Carlos Alcaraz |
| Australian Open | 2025 | Quarter-final | Alexander Zverev |
| US Open | 2024 | Round of 16 | Jannik Sinner |
| Wimbledon | 2024 | Quarter-final | Carlos Alcaraz |
| French Open | 2024 | Third Round | Francisco Cerundolo |
He has the impressive, all-court quality to trouble wherever he plays, and has also registered wins over the likes of Carlos Alcaraz amongst other top ten players across the last few years.
On his day, Paul should be able to threaten for the Wimbledon title. He just needs to find some quality and consistency over a two-week period.
