Brazilian star Joao Fonseca is undoubtedly one of the most promising South American prospects on the ATP Tour.
However, he is not the only South American making headlines – Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, 22, could be set to join the ATP’s elite very soon.
Vallejo, of Paraguay, is a former ITF junior world number one and a winner of the prestigious Orange Bowl; he became the first Paraguayan in history to win the event.
Vallejo, who is also a junior Grand Slam finalist in doubles, has just won his second title of 2025.

Vallejo won his first Challenger singles title in 2024 at the Sao Leo Open in Brazil. He won his second 19 months later at the Copa Internacional de Tênis, Brazil.
Vallejo has also won one Challenger doubles title, at the 2023 Lima Challenger in Peru.

Vallejo hit with Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev in 2018
Vallejo, who formerly trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, had the opportunity to train with some ATP stars at the 2022 ATP Finals.
Then 18, Vallejo commented on his experience while speaking to the ATP Tour in 2023.
He said: “They are very consistent and aggressive with their games. They have big serves. They have a lot of things you can take away and try and practise.
“I was warming up Daniil Medvedev for his match against [Stefanos] Tsitsipas. It was a fun experience.

“Daniil has a completely different game style. He is a very chilled guy. It is very fun to be with him and play with him. You get used to his ball and it is very fun.”
