Jack Draper’s 2025 season saw him win the biggest title of his career to date and cement himself as a genuine all-court threat who could soon challenge for elite honours.

However, it was also another year sadly marred by injury and fitness woes, even if he made great strides towards improving his fitness and physicality.

Sometimes, luck simply is not on your side, and as he headed into the hotly anticipated grass-court season, he began to struggle.

This led to him shutting down his summer before withdrawing from the US Open, eventually forfeiting the opportunity to feature in his first ATP Finals too.

Given how he started 2025, many were expecting huge things from him in the months to come. Chief among his supporters was Martina Navratilova.

Martina Navratilova’s prediction about Jack Draper in 2025

She spoke to Sky Sports in late 2024 about the Brit, singing his praises after his mesmeric run to the US Open semi-finals that year.

The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion even compared Jack Draper’s rapid rise and the issues that came with her struggles battling Chris Evert, noting: “I remember playing the first time against Chris [Evert] and Margaret Court, everything was hit a little bit harder, a little bit deeper, a little bit closer to the sideline.

Jack Draper is the ATP’s best bet at unsettling Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s dominance – prove us wrong…

“I had to run more. The drop shots were shorter. Everything was better.

“It’s cumulative, on this court when it’s so physical. But it just caught up with him [Draper].”

However, she then added: “Next year, if he stays healthy, Jack will be in the conversation in every major. That’s a really big plus.

“If he keeps playing like this the sky is the limit.”

With the big-serving youngster now nursing his various ailments, Tim Henman has predicted how long it will take Draper to return to full fitness in 2026.

Jack Draper could challenge for a Grand Slam in 2026 if he stays fit

Sadly, this premonition from such a legendary figure was not able to come to fruition due to so many injuries derailing his year.

What’s especially frustrating is that he started 2025 on fire, winning his maiden Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells before reaching the final in Madrid too.

It may seem like rehashing old claims, but 2026 really feels like a golden opportunity for Draper to establish himself amongst the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

Their dominance over the ATP Tour has been overwhelming, and for some, it has become a little monotonous.

The 23-year-old, with his swinging left-handed serve and ever-improving technical skillset, could fulfil Navratilova’s prediction next year. It’s just a shame it would come a year late.
