Katie Boulter is ranked below Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal, but that doesn’t tell the full story…
The 29-year-old is the current British number three, but she could soon overtake both Raducanu and Kartal.
Why? Well, she’s been the best Briton in women’s tennis this year.
And the numbers back it up!
Katie Boulter has earned more points and won more titles than Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal in 2026
Boulter is, admittedly, ranked below both Raducanu and Kartal.
British top three (WTA Rankings)
- 1. Emma Raducanu (WTA #24) – 1,645 points
- 2. Sonay Kartal (WTA #54) – 1,127 points
- 3. Katie Boulter (WTA #64) – 1,012 points
However, having made a strong start to 2026, she’s earned more points than the British number one and two.
British top three (WTA Race)
- 1. Katie Boulter (WTA #35) – 419 points
- 2. Emma Raducanu (WTA #40) – 373 points
- 3. Sonay Kartal (WTA #42) – 367 points
Furthermore, she’s the only Brit, male or female, to win a WTA title this year.
British top three (2026 WTA titles)
- 1. Katie Boulter – 1 (Ostrava Open)
- T-2. Emma Raducanu – 0
- T-2. Sonay Kartal – 0
She also has a higher match-win % than her two British rivals.
British top three (2026 WTA win %)
- 1. Katie Boulter – 69%
- 2. Sonay Kartal – 67%
- 3. Emma Raducanu – 50%
Looking at those numbers, it’s hard to argue against Boulter being the best Briton in women’s tennis right now.

Bouncing back from a tricky 2025 campaign, Boulter has returned to form and could be one to look out for this year.
However, she did suffer a slight setback last time out in Indian Wells.
The former world number 23 failed to advance to the main draw, losing in the second round of qualifying to Andorra’s Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
Reflecting on her disappointing Indian Wells tournament, Boulter shared the following message on Instagram.
“Maybe one day you’ll love me back, Indian Wells,” she said.
“Time to go MIA [Miami].”
Boulter will next head to Florida for the Miami Open, where she will compete in the main draw.
What to expect from the British trio in Miami
Boulter enjoyed her best-ever WTA 1000 tournament in Miami two years ago.
There, she reached the fourth round, defeating Brenda Fruhvirtova and Beatriz Haddad Maia.
Whether she can repeat the feat in 2026 remains to be seen…
Kartal has never played a main draw match in Miami.
Where do you think Emma Raducanu will finish 2026 ranked?
Last year, she lost in the second round of qualifying to Taylor Townsend.
She is a better player now than she was then, though, and if fit to compete, Kartal will be determined to build on her fourth-round appearance at Indian Wells.
It is, however, Raducanu, who is most likely to make a deep run.
The 2021 US Open champion was excellent in Miami last year, reaching her maiden WTA 1000 quarterfinal.
Emma Raducanu at the 2025 Miami Open
| Round | Opponent | Opponent’s rank | Result | Score |
| 1R | Sayaka Ishii | 188th | WIN | 6-2, 6-1 |
| 2R | Emma Navarro | 10th | WIN | 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 |
| 3R | McCartney Kessler | 48th | WIN | 6-1, 3-0 (RET) |
| 4R | Amanda Anisimova | 17th | WIN | 6-1, 6-3 |
| QF | Jessica Pegula | 4th | LOSS | 4-6, 7-6, 2-6 |
Raducanu upset Emma Navarro and Amanda Anisimova en route to the final eight.

It was there that Raducanu’s run came to an end, losing to the fourth seed, Jessica Pegula, in a deciding set.
The 23-year-old will want to rediscover that form in time for this year’s event.
Only time will tell who will emerge victorious in Miami, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.
The 2026 Miami Open main draw begins on Tuesday, March 17.
