Iga Swiatek has continued her French Open title defence after a comfortable victory over Emma Raducanu.
Swiatek was seen as vulnerable coming into the French Open this year, after failing to reach a single final since winning the title in Paris last year.
These concerns for the Pole were heightened after Swiatek received a nightmare draw, but she is yet to face any hurdles.
After progressing to the third round of the French Open, Swiatek has achieved a record that is even better than Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Iga Swiatek continues Grand Slam record that is better than Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz
Swiatek has now won 23 consecutive matches at the French Open, showcasing her dominance at the clay court major.
While she has not been able to enjoy the same dominance at other Grand Slam tournaments, Swiatek has certainly been consistent.
This year’s French Open is the 21st consecutive Grand Slam tournament where Swiatek has reached at least the third round.
The last major tournament where she did not reach the third round was at the 2019 US Open, where an 18-year-old Swiatek lost in the second round to Anastasija Sevastova.
Swiatek even stands above Djokovic in this record, who has been in the third round of 18 Grand Slam tournaments since 2020.
Djokovic can make this 19 in his third round French Open match against Corentin Moutet.
The only two Grand Slam tournaments where Djokovic has not reached the third round since 2020 were the Australian Open and US Open, which he could not play in 2022.
Sinner has the opportunity to achieve his 16th third round at this year’s French Open, while Alcaraz sits at 13.
However, Alcaraz only played his first Grand Slam main draw at the 2021 Australian Open, so is at a slight disadvantage.
| Player | Times reaching the third round of a Grand Slam since 2020 |
| Iga Swiatek | 21/21 |
| Novak Djokovic | 18/21* |
| Jannik Sinner | 15/21* |
| Carlos Alcaraz | 13/21 |
Iga Swiatek joins list of players to have won 90 Grand Slam matches
Not only did Swiatek’s victory over Raducanu confirm her 21st consecutive time being in the third round of a Grand Slam, but it was also her 90th overall major victory.
This began at the 2019 Australian Open, where Swiatek beat Ana Bogdan as a qualifier.
Just 108 matches later, Swiatek has already won 90 Grand Slam matches and five major titles.
Only three WTA players have managed to do this quicker than Swiatek, in multiple-time Grand Slam champions the Williams sisters and Martina Hingis.
Swiatek will look to win her 91st Grand Slam match when she next steps on the match court at the French Open.
That match will be against Romanian Jaqueline Cristian, who she has never previously played a match against.
